Is there some kind of program that will tell me what operating system the key belongs to? I'm trying to fix my computer and the operating system version above the product key is worn out to the point I can't see. I upgraded to windows 7 and it saying the software is not genuine so i'm downgrading.|||I suggest going to the computer makers web site and go to support and enter the model number of the machine and view what software was sold with it.

Keith|||Call Microsoft, they issues the keys and they are doing everything possible to prevent piracy.|||check the manual that came with it. in some cases it is written on the CD that came with the laptop
